Hance Construction named title sponsor for N.J.’s largest cannabis industry conference

Art Hance Panel Discussion

New Jersey’s leading construction company in the cannabis space has been named presenting sponsor for NJ Cannabis Insider’s March 16 conference, the state’s premier industry business conference and networking event.

Based in Warren County, Hance Construction has for three decades established itself as a construction and consultancy leader, having been recognized in 2019 with the Governor’s Award for Continued Excellence.

Hance Construction — which has worked on an array of residential, commercial, industrial and high-profile projects, including building the N.Y. Giants indoor practice complex — was selected to build one of the first cannabis cultivation facilities in New Jersey. Since then, Hance has provided construction services to several other licensees. Just this month, it was selected to build a new cultivation complex for an awardee from the 2019 RFA.

Art Hance, founder and CEO of the Washington Township company, is an advocate of cannabis business education, frequently speaking about the perils of entering the market without being prepared.

“Many people don’t have a clear idea of what it takes to build and that it’s a process,” Hance told an audience at the NJ Cannabis Insider Live! fall 2021 conference. “It’s very complicated. And every site is different because of the local, state and sometimes federal requirements that go into it. People often underestimate what it takes. Locking up a site is just the very beginning of what you have to do to build a cannabis facility.”

Hance Construction was also presenting sponsor for NJCI’s 2021 major conferences, two of which were held virtually because of the pandemic.

“We’re proud to call Art and Hance Construction our partner in presenting our educational and business networking events,” said Enrique Lavin, publisher and editor of NJ Cannabis Insider, which is produced by NJ Advance Media. “His deep knowledge and understanding of the cannabis space aligns with what we aim to present at our conferences.”

This month, NJ Cannabis Insider marked its fourth year since launching from the NJ Advance Media newsroom in Iselin, having published more than 200 issues and hosted multiple sold-out events throughout the state.

“His partnership has helped us grow as the industry grows,” Lavin said. “He’s been a subscriber of ours since we launched in March 2018. We see him as a founding sponsor.”

For the March 16 conference, Darrin Chandler Jr., an executive at commercial real estate company RIPCO, and Karen Oleson, founder of Hambrecht Oleson Design, will join Hance on the panel, “Construction + Real Estate — Building right, on the right property.”

In addition, Art Hance will give a CannaTalk during the conference, a 30-minute discussion with his audience on what you need to know about building in the cannabis space.

NJ Cannabis Insider Live! is where industry leaders share their knowledge and their business cards. The all-day event, which starts at 10 a.m., takes place at the Carteret Performing Arts Center.
